The Kathie Owen Perspective Podcast
Human Patterns Under Pressure. Leadership Through the Observer's Lens.
Most leadership problems aren't leadership problems.
They're human pattern problems.
The Kathie Owen Perspective explores what happens beneath behavior—where emotional regulation, unconscious patterns, nervous system responses, and invisible relationship dynamics quietly shape every decision we make.
Kathie Owen is a consultant who helps founders, executives, leadership teams, and advisors recognize the human patterns that traditional business conversations often overlook. Through years of observing people under pressure, she has learned that what determines outcomes isn't usually strategy, intelligence, or experience.
It's how people behave when uncertainty arrives.
Each episode examines the hidden dynamics influencing leadership, business, relationships, communication, culture, and personal growth—not to judge people, but to understand them.
You'll hear conversations about:
- Human patterns under pressure
- Leadership presence and emotional regulation
- Founder psychology and organizational dynamics
- The stories we create—and what happens when we stop believing them
- Why people repeat the same patterns
- The Observer's Lens as a tool for clarity
- Enterprise risk that lives inside human behavior
- Courage, responsibility, and non-attachment
- Quiet moments that reveal more than loud ones ever could
Some episodes begin with a simple observation.
Others unpack a conversation, a client interaction, a leadership moment, or something Kathie noticed while sitting in a restaurant, walking through a model home, or watching a youth sporting event.
Because patterns are everywhere.
This isn't a podcast about fixing people.
It's about seeing them more clearly.
There are no gimmicks.
No manufactured motivation.
No performative leadership.
Just thoughtful observations that help you understand yourself, other people, and the systems you're part of—with greater clarity, curiosity, and discernment.
Because once you learn to see the pattern...
you can't unsee it.

About this episode:
- A story I was telling myself that was holding me back
- The life-changing book Choose Your Story Change Your Life by Kindra Hall
- We are always telling ourselves stories whether we realize it or not.
- Our inner storyteller is as unique as our fingerprint.
- Our self stories are so ingrained in our routines that we are unaware of how they are affecting us.
- The stories we tell ourselves keep us safe - or so we think. They actually keep us stuck.
- Step #1 in Stop the Mind Screw is to analyze your self-talk and it is there for a reason!
- Kindra lays out 4 steps in choosing our stories. Those steps are 1. Catch, 2. Analyze, 3. Choose, 4. Install
- Because the stories we tell ourselves are who we become we really must catch, analyze, choose better stories, and then install them.
- Awareness is the first step to changing everything. Kindra tells an awesome story about the iceberg that took down the Titanic.
- Our stories are usually just below our awareness - sometimes they peek out - Kindra calls these "iceberg moments"
- This is step number one catching those stories in the process.
- Analyze: Once you begin understanding the stories you tell yourself that you can become aware of how to change that story and start telling yourself a story that will serve you. It isn't about lying to yourself, it is about empowering yourself.
- Choose: We have a tendency to only remember the bad stories. It is time to reinforce the powerful stories. Mental diets come in handy here. Want to know more about a mental diet? Download your resource guide here: 🍕 www.kathieowen.com/mentaldiet
- Install: Kindra closes out the book talking about 5 essential areas of our life that we are telling stories and how to change them.
- Business and career
- Health and wellness
- Money and finance
- Relationships and love
- Family and parenting
